Coronavirus shuts down March Madness and likely ends Auburn’s 7 seniors careers

The sudden rise of the coronavirus in the United States is effecting just about everything.

First the NBA was paused. Utah Jazz star and two time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus right before a game which was canceled before tip off. Then his team mate who’s also a star was tested positive as well. The NCAA decided the NCAA Tournament and all conference tournaments would be played with no fans the day after. Lightning struck again as fans all around were upset to hear the news that all conference tournaments were to be canceled. That news upset players and teams across the nation. It would’ve been some players last games. It also would’ve been the difference between making the NCAA tournament and not. What they didn’t know is there would be no NCAA tournament. That news was announced a few hours later. Devastation. Chances were lost. Dreams were crushed. Tears were shed. Emptiness was felt. Unborn moments were erased. Sports suddenly got a lot quieter. Seniors felt the most pain. They felt their college careers were over. All because of an invisible back stabber. Wow. The time in which it all went down was incredible. A 16 team tournament was considered. But that didn’t seem fair. And to make things worse, the 2020 baseball and softball season has been canceled and the MLB has been postponed. Spring practices have been canceled in football and every sport has been paused or postponed. So…………… now what? That seems to be the big question. Fans are encouraging an additional year granted to seniors. They idea will very likely happen but it effects recruiting. Especially for blue bloods across basketball. But how many seniors will stick around? Who even knows at this point. And you have to feel pain when thinking about players who’s college career is done. Or when teams that had this year as their year. Since no official word has been told about another year for seniors, we have to assume all seniors are finished for now. While Auburn’s basketball team was sad, they decided to celebrate their college careers with a dance of to say their final goodbyes. Auburn had 7 seniors. Well, 8 if you include freshman Isaac Okoro. So for now, thanks for all the memories J’Von, Anfernee, Danjel, Samir, Austin, Will, Thomas, and Isaac. War Eagle always!
