Ranking the top 25 Auburn players in 2020

  1. Seth Williams – Wide Receiver. Seth Williams made an instant impact in his first two years at Auburn. He’s a generational talent and a fantastic pass catcher.
  2. K.J. Britt – Linebacker. Britt is going to be the best player on defense for the Tigers in 2020. His all around talent is great.
  3. Bo Nix – Quarterback. Bo Nix’s impressive freshman season should be followed by a great sophomore year. He’s a gunslinger.
  4. Big Kat Bryant – Defensive End. Big Kat made some big plays in his junior year. Perhaps his biggest was his almost 90+ yard touchdown fumble return vs Oregon. he was tripped up at the two yard line. Bryant’s explosiveness and quickness of the snap needs work but I’m sure he’ll improve in the fall.
  5. Christian Tutt – Cornerback. Tutt is explosive. It may be returning a punt or it may be his coverage skills. But no matter what he is explosive. He needs to work on coverage skills slightly more though.
  6. Smoke Monday – Safety. A pick six against Alabama and some fantastic plays in his sophomore year makes him a very dominant defender. He tears it up when he’s on the field. He asks one question. Who wants the smoke?
  7. Austin Troxell – Offensive Line. After missing the 2019 season with an ACL tear, Troxell looks to bounce back and lead the Tiger’s O-Line.
  8. Owen Pappoe – Linebacker. Owen Pappoe impressed in his freshman year. The former 5-star caused chaos for teams in 2019.
  9. Nick Brahms – Center. Another great offensive lineman, Brahms started at center for the Tigers last year. His blocking skills have improved.
  10. Zakoby McClain – Linebacker. Expect a much improved linebacker in Zakoby McClain who’s careers has been highlighted by a 100 yard pick six in crunch time against Alabama.
  11. Tyrone Truesdell – Defesive Tackle. Tyrone Truesdell is someone you may not have heard of. His talent was shadowed by Derrick Brown in 2019. He’s a boulder in the gaps.
  12. D.J. Williams – Running back. Since JaTarvious Whitlow transferred, DJ Williams will likely start at running back. He spurned the LSU defense for 130 yards last year.
  13. Shedrick Jackson – Wide Receiver. Bo Jackson’s nephew Shedrick is the best blocking receiver on the team which is a valuable asset. He has recently become a bigger part of the passing game too.
  14. Anders Carlson – Kicker. Anders Carlson went 5 for 5 vs Alabama. An impressive number at that. Hopefully he’ll hit his stride in 2020.
  15. Derrick Hall – Buck. Auburn fans may not know Derrick Hall. But they will. He draws comparisons to Carl Lawson, a former Auburn defensive end.
  16. Tank Bigsby – Running back. Auburn is very exited about this new runner they’ve picked up. Bigsby is a force to be reckoned with. He reminds me of a more powerful version of Cameron Artis-Payne.

17. T.D. Moultry – Defensive End. If Auburn wants to maintain a strong defensive line, TD Moultry may e key. The former 5-star recruit has been expected to have a break out year but has never done it. He is a good player but can he prove that?

18. Jamien Sherwood – Safety. Auburn has a record of replacing graduating safeties with young athletes that emerge into stars. Sherwood and Smoke Monday are next up. Sherwood’s size and athleticism reminds me of Clemson star safety Isaiah Simmons. He has the same kind of body.

19. Anthony Schwartz – Wide Receiver. Schwartz needs to develop into who he truly is to be able to become elite in my book. His speed is mind bowing but his all around receiving skills nee work.

20. Jaren Handy – Defensive Line. Jaren Handy was a top recruit for Auburn in 2019. He has all the attributes to be the next great Auburn defender.

21. Eli Stove – Wide Receiver. Eli Stove needs a big senior year. He’s fast, versatile, and has the athleticism to be a great receiver.

22. Mark Antony Richards – Running back. Another back? Yes. Auburn is famous for having duos or even trios of great running backs at a time. Cadillac Williams raved about Richards saying, “just wait until you see Mark Antony Richards. He reminds me of Kerryon Johnson.”

23. Zykevious Walker – Defensive End. A highly recruited freshman, Walker reminds coaches of former Auburn defensive stars. Like Marlon Davidson. And even Carl Lawson.

24. Roger McCreary – Cornerback. Maybe McCreary needs to be higher on this list. He had a great year in 2019 considering that he was ranked in the 900s in recruiting rankings in 2018.

25. Kobe Hudson – Wide Receiver. Kobe Hudson is going to make an impact in his freshman year. He was a highly recruited player in high school and was the first to commit to Auburn’s 2020 class.
