What a journey it’s been for Will Hastings. A small little walk on kicker that was moved to receiver and became a fan favorite. He’s now on an NFL team. He’ll be playing with one of his good friends too. The New England Patriots signed Hastings after going undrafted. It’s a great fit for the Patriots since their wide receivers aren’t as good as they’d like. Jarrett Stidham wasn’t a fantastic player for Auburn in 2018. A huge part of that was because Hastings, his favorite target, was injured. With Stidham set to be the starter for New England, if Hastings gets playing time, it should be an instant boost to Stidham’s passing game. And surpisingly, wide receivers with a small frame that are quick and nimble, like Hastings, usually do well in the NFL. Guys that have succeeded that compare to Hastings are former Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow, Titans receiver Adam Humphries, and Rams receiver Cooper Cupp. So I think Hastings could potentially find a role in this Patriots offense. Congrats Will and War Eagle!
