Sunday morning, Auburn found who would eventually replace Bo Nix at starting quarterback. That was 4-star North Shore quarterback Dematrius Davis. Now I’m breaking down what he brings to the Tiger’s table. Please share with friends.

Who is Dematrius Davis?
Dematrius Davis is a 4-star QB prospect in the 247 Sports rankings. He’s the #130 player in the country, the #14 quarterback in the country, and the #20 player in Texas according to 247 Sports. Davis is a 6’0, 190 lb quarterback. While he’s smaller than Auburn’s past QBs, he fits the style of offense Gus Malzahn loves. The North Shore dual threat is ranked 6th among dual threat passers in the 2021 class.
What is his mentality?
Davis is a pure winner. He wins. He dominates. That’s what he’s looking to do at Auburn. He wants to be the last team standing at some point in his career at Auburn. That’s why I think he’ll start one day. He’s also willing to wait and learn. Bo Nix isn’t the perfect passer for Dematrius to learn behind, but if Davis wants to improve his passing skills, Nix may be the best one to help him grow in that. Another thing about Davis, he’s very coach able. Davis is willing to listen to his coaches and help him improve.
Who does Davis compare to?
I’ve said this multiple times. There’s one player that is the same exact style of quarterback as Davis. It’s Miami quarterback D’Eriq King. Mobility and arm is what you see in the two. Davis also looks like NFL reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and former Auburn star Nick Marshall.
What number will he wear?
This question doesn’t really matter. But it’s fun. So what number will be on Davis’ jersey? He’s #9 right now. I see him wearing that in the future unless it’s taken. Numbers #3 and #12 also seem possible.
Will he be one of the Auburn quarterback greats?
Cam Newton, Pat Sullivan, Nick Marshall, Jason Campbell, Jarrett Stidham and potentially Bo Nix are some of the great Auburn quarterbacks. Will Dematrius Davis’ name be in that group? I think with all his attributes he could definitely be one of them.
