Auburn lands speedy receiver, set to reclassify, play this season

On Friday around 10:00 AM, Malcolm Johnson Jr, a fast 4-star receiver from Arlington, VA, announced his commitment to Auburn over Alabama, Georgia, and other SEC programs.

But Johnson won’t be in Auburn’s 2021 class. He’ll be in its 2020 class. The quick track star decided to reclassify and play for Auburn this season.

This gives Auburn their fifth receiver for 2020. Johnson is joining Kobe Hudson, Ze’Vian Capers, JJ Evans, and Elijah Canion, as the Tigers stack up on receivers.

Malcolm Johnson plans to enroll at Auburn later this week. As for which number he’ll probably wear #19, as it is one of the only receiver numbers open.

Here’s what Johnson said on his commitment…

“I feel like Auburn has a nice family feel and I feel like under any circumstances the school will always have my back,” Johnson said. “That was really important to me.”

Johnson’s high school won’t play football this year due to coronavirus. So that led to him enrolling early.

Sammy Watkins is a great comparison to Johnson, who played under Chad Morris at Clemson.
