Jarrett Stidham and Gus Malzahn featured in ESPN cover story

Folks, go pull up ESPN right now because you’ll see a picture of former Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham headlining the website. One of the most interesting things in football right now is the Jarrett Stidham argument. Is he good enough? Will it be too much? Who knows. Right now that’s a mystery. But he’s going to be the starting quarterback for the Patriots. So yeah. There’s a lot to talk about. ESPN headlines the story saying ‘Moment won’t be too big’ for Jarrett Stidham, his former coach says’ I haven’t yet checked out the article. But let’s all go do it right now. War Eagle!

Inside the unknown players: Luke Deal

Today we’ll take a look at tight end Luke Deal for the fourth episode of our Inside the unknown players series. Enjoy.

Luke Deal is a name hardly any fans know about. The sophomore tight end should see a much bigger role in the Tigers new offense. Auburn is looking to get the tight ends involved in the Chad Morris era. Deal brings a fantastic skill set to Auburn’s new offense. The 6’6 former 3-star. Deal is big, fast and versitile. I expect him to potentially be the #1 tight end on Auburn’s depth chart. But of course, that will be up for debate since Auburn has five other tight ends that could start. But Deal’s blocking ability may be what seperates him. He’s a very versitile blocker. I can’t wait to see what Deal can do in this new Auburn offense. War Eagle!

Inside the unknown players: Mark Antony Richards

Welcome to the third edition of Inside the unknown players. Today we’ll take a look at a star running back that you might not know of yet, but will know by the season opener. Let’s see what impact Mark Antony Richards will make on the Auburn offense this year.

Mark Antony Richards is a fantastic player. The former 4-star running back sat out in 2019 due to injury, but is ready to go for 2020. Richards is getting a lot of praise from former Auburn superstar and current running backs coach Cadillac Williams. Williams compares him to former Auburn star running back Kerryon Johnson. Let’s hope those comparisons are true. He’ll likely get a big role in Auburn’s offense in 2020. I see him being the #1 third down back. I think that because of his receiving ability. He also fits the running back draw scheme if Auburn should run a draw on a third & medium. Richards’ brother Ahmmon Richards, was predicted to be a first round pick in the 2019 NFL draft before suffering a season ending injury in the 2018 season. Ahmmon was a receiver. It looks like that’s where Mark Antony gets his receiving skills from. I can’t wait to see Mark Antony Richards’ role in Auburn’s new offense. War Eagle!

Inside the unknown players: Jaren Handy

Welcome to the second article of Inside the unknown players. Today, we’ll take a brief look at sophomore defensive end Jaren Handy. Enjoy this new segment. And if you like it, check out my last article on this series.

Jaren Handy is one of my favorite rising Auburn athletes. With most of the Auburn defensive line power gone, Handy will have a very good shot at taking over a starting position. Handy, nicknamed ‘Stone’ for his toughness, is a very good run stopper. Much like Derrick Brown, Handy somewhat lacks the ability to pass rush, but makes up for it with his run stopping. Former Tigers star Marlon Davidson said “I see a bright future for him.” Hopefully that’s the case. While the defesive line rotation for Auburn in 2020 is still unknown, Jaren ‘Stone’ Handy could do a lot of good things for Kevin Steele’s defense next season. War Eagle!

Inside the unknown players: Ja’Varrius Johnson

There are plenty of talented players Auburn fans have never heard of. In this new series, I’ll show you some of them. And how they can make an impact on the Tigers in the future. Today I’m breaking down wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson.

Ja’Varrius Johnson is a quick and flashy wide recdiver. That’s the first thing you need to know. He’s also pretty small at 5’9. If he reminds me of one former Tiger, it’s Ryan Davis. Johnson’s a slot receiver who redshirted the 2019 season. The former 4-star is from Trussville, AL, where Auburn has had success from in the past. See Noah Igbinoghene. Johnson should be a complement to Bo Nix since he’s so shifty and quick. He’ll be more of a quick completion and run after catch player. Just like Davis was. I don’t see Nix heaving it down field on a go route to Johnson. Unless he’s wide open. I can’t wait to see how Johnson does in the new Chad Morris offense this season. War Eagle!

I hope you enjoyed this new segment. If you did, please leave a like. Thank you!

Another huge Auburn target commits to Vols

I’m really starting to hate Tennessee. In only two days, they’ve snatched two of our biggest targets, who were predicted to Auburn by a lot of people. Auburn’s recruiting class is already off to a slow start and this doesn’t help. Julian Nixon, a 4-star wide receiver picked Jeremy Pruitt’s Vols over Auburn and Florida. That’s just how it is sometimes. War Eagle.

Auburn misses out on Jalen Green. What will the roster look like now?

The G-League stole Jalen Green from Auburn and Memphis. But now what will our team look like in 2020? I’ll show you. And there’s still a lot to be exited about.

Starting 5

Let’s take a look at the projected starting 5. Sharife Cooper is a lock. But who else will start? Let’s take a look.

Sharife Cooper

Point Guard

Sharife Cooper will be the starting point guard for Auburn in 2020. The 5-star freshman is the highest prospect to ever sign under Bruce Pearl and he may be the most underrated recruit in the 2020 class. His elite speed, passing, and scoring abilities have never been seen before at Auburn. I can’t wait for him to star in 2020.

Tyrell Jones

Shooting Guard

Although Jones wasn’t rewarded much playing time in 2019 and early 2020, the freshman is a very good player. The speedy sophomore nick named Turbo, is a point guard but I think he’ll play shooting guard as a starter. I’m constantly impressed by Jones’ high school highlights and I can’t wait to see him in 2020.

Devan Cambridge

Small Forward

While I’m very tempted to say Allen Flanigan or Chris Moore will start here, I think Devan Cambridge will be the starter here. Don’t you just love that smooth little three point pump fake he does. It’s so satisfying. Oh and to go with that, he always makes the three pointer after that.

JT Thor

Power Forward

JT Thor is a solid mix between Anfernee McLemore and Danjel Purifoy, who both played forward for the Tigers last year. Thor is a lefty who can knock down any shot and block any shot. He’s an all around force at the rim and he’ll fit right in the Bruce Pearl’s team.

Stretch Akingbola

Center

First off, you might be wondering, is Stretch his real name? No it’s not, but it’s way easier than Babatunde. The African native provides a strong force at the rim and a possible great scorer. I hope we can develop him into a better scorer. But come on, it’s Bruce Pearl, how can I worry?

Other key players

Bruce Pearl is famous for his points off the bench. Now let’s see who’ll be coming of the bench for the Tigers.

Jamal Johnson

Jamal Johnson - Men's Basketball - Auburn University Athletics

Shooting Guard

Jamal Johnson, the transfer from Memphis, had a smaller role in Bruce Pearl’s 2019 Tigers. But I think he’ll make a big impact in 2020. The junior is a great perimeter shooter. For some reason, sometimes when Johnson was open on the wing, his teammates wouldn’t see him and pass the ball to the opposite wing. That may have kept him from making a huge impact. But with Sharife Cooper at point, he’ll get the ball plenty.

Jaylin Williams

Jaylin Williams provides jolt of energy off Auburn's bench in win ...

Power Forward

Jaylin Williams quickly became one of the many favorites among Auburn fans after his stellar performance against Tennessee. His signature play became a self lob off the back board dunk. If that makes sense. You kinda have to see it to understand. The mobile forward still has some areas to improve in. But I think he’ll do a lot this year.

Allen Flanigan

Allen Flanigan, Auburn, Small Forward

Small Forward

Allen Flanigan is a quick left handed forward that can make hard shots and finish with contact. His three point shooting could use some work but other wise I think he’ll be a huge impact player for us this year.

Chris Moore

Forward

The former Arkansas player of the year, Chris Moore will provide a new style of player that Auburn’s never really seen before. The freshman will have a huge role in Auburn’s new look team.

Justin Powell

Why North Oldham's Justin Powell signed with Auburn basketball

Shooting Guard

A steady pull up shooter, Justin Powell is going to be a fantastic shooter for Auburn that is much needed since our whole Final Four run was all because of three point shooting.

Which NFL team should you route for? Part I

All you need is Auburn Football but there’s a lot more to football. I’m a dye-hard Auburn fan who loves everything Auburn. But I also enjoy watching NFL football. And I have no favorite team. If you’re like me, you see no NFL teams that stand out to me. I used to route for the Carolina Panthers. But when they let go of Cam Newton, I stopped. Actually it was long before then. When Cam was declared out for the season, I was pretty bored. So anyway, I’m looking for a team. And you might be too. So let’s take a look at which teams you should route for.

Carolina Panthers

How Oddsmakers See The Carolina Panthers: The Story Of The Season ...

You like defense? The Panthers just snagged former Auburn star Derrick Brown. Even though Cam Newton is out, Derrick Brown is in. So maybe consider routing for this rebuilding team. They’re somewhat local.

Tennessee Titans

Evaluating the Titans post-draft roster and the potential for more ...

The Titans are a very local team. Only a few hours away from Auburn and other cities. They don’t have any Auburn star power yet. But that could change in a few years. They’ve got some cool jerseys and they’re overall a good team.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons Are Back In Mostly Black After Unveiling New Uniforms

The Falcons are another very local team. Only an hour away from Atlanta, the Falcons have many Auburn and Alabama fans routing for them. The only problem is, their star receivers Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones played at Alabama, and their running back played for Georgia. The only talented Auburn player on their roster is Marlon Davidson.

Baltimore Ravens

Can The Ravens Silence Their Critics?

The Baltimore Ravens are way up north. But they’re a cool team with a cool quarterback. Personally, I love dual threat quarterbacks. They’re quarterback is Lamar Jackson, the most dual threat quarterback in the NFL. And it helps that I’ve been to Baltimore several times.

Cam Newton’s team

Cam Newton Apologizes for Sexist Remarks - The New York Times

I don’t know where Cam will land. But wherever he does, it’ll be an instant contender for Auburn fans. Cam is the heart and sole of Auburn’s pro stardom. I routed for his former team, the Panthers. But they gave up on him, so I gave up on them. The speculation on Cam Newton landing has died down. He’s now looking for a back up position it seems.

5-star Auburn prospect commits to Vols

Unfortunately one of Auburn’s biggest football targets for the 2020 class committed to Tennessee on Sunday afternoon. Dylan Brooks, one of my favorite players in this class chose the Vols over Auburn. He is ranked the #1 player in Alabama. He was predicted to Auburn heavily. But it is what it is. We can go out and get some other five stars. War Eagle.
