The Patriots aren’t making any changes to their depth chart any time soon. They have two quarterbacks on their roster. Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Stidham would clearly start. And the chances of them bringing in Cam Newton decrease by the day. Also, the Patriots aren’t gonna draft a quarterback any higher than the 4th round. So it looks like Stidham will be the starter. And that’s big news for Auburn fans. War Eagle.
Bo Nix got to spend some time with a few big name quarterbacks in California before the coronavirus broke out. Nix traveled to see Jordan Palmer, a former NFL quarterback and one of the best quarterback trainers in America. Bo Nix also trained with two of the biggest names in football while he was there. Former LSU quarterback and future #1 pick in the draft Joe Burrow, and former #3 pick in the draft and the New York Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold accompanied Nix. Those are some big names to train with. Darnold said this about Nix.
“Sam made the comment, because he was around him: ‘He reminds me of Deshaun (Watson) at this age’ because he was really athletic and threw the ball really well on the run and you could tell, just from throwing the ball from the pocket, it was just about to completely click,” Palmer told Auburn247. “He can spin it. It was just about to click.”
Deshaun Watson is one of the most legendary players in college football. It’s obvious these guys have a lot of praise for him. It looks as if Bo Nix has probably improved. It wouldn’t surprise me. I mean, the guy is obsessed with getting better. War Eagle.
After being expected to commit to Oklahoma State, JT Thor surprised people and picked Auburn. Now let’s take a look at what he brings to the table and how he can change this program. You’re locked into the Freshman Insider.
What he brings
Thor brings nice perimiter shooting and great rim protection. He reminds me a lot of former Auburn star Anfernee McLemore. McLemore played power forward like Thor, but was a great shooter. Thor is a knock down shooter for Auburn and he’ll play a big role in Bruce Pearl’s team. Another thing McLemore and Thor have in common is they’re both left handed. I really like the combo Thor brings to the table and I think he’ll get significant playing time.
Where he was ranked
Thor was a 4-star recruit and the #4 player in Georgia. He was ranked #51 in the country according to 247 Sports. Thor said he really liked how Bruce Pearl is a “players coach.”
Which NBA player does he compare to?
He really reminds me of Pascal Siakam who is a great shooting power forward.
Which jersey number will he wear?
In the picture at the top of the article, Thor is wearing #23. Because Isaac Okoro who’s likely leaving for NBA, wore that number, Thor will be able to wear it as long as Okoro doesn’t return.
If you didn’t know, NBA 2k is an NBA themed video game that offers a virtual NBA playing expirience. The skill of the players are determined by their rating. The highest a player can be ranked is 99 overall. The lowest is somewhere in the 40s. Tonight, I’ll give you a look at what Auburn basketball players would be rated. Enjoy.
Sharife Cooper–81 Overall
A former 5-star recruit, Sharife Cooper deserves an 81 rating.
Jamal Johnson – 77 Overall
The transfer from Memphis should see more playing time in 2020.
Jaylin Williams – 77 Overall
A steady combo forward, Williams checks in at 77 overall.
Devan Cambridge – 76 Overall
Devin Cambridge had a big freshman year.
JT Thor – 75 Overall
The incoming freshman looks to make an impact.
Allen Flanigan – 75 Overall
The lefty Flanigan should have a big sophomore season.
Stretch Akingbola – 75 Overall
Stretch is a tall center who I expect to do big things.
Chris Moore – 74 Overall
Chris Moore won Arkansas player of the year in high school.
Can Auburn grasp a top 5 recruiting class with the addition of Jalen Green? Can Auburn pull the most talented recruit in school history? We’ll find out. Only 4 days left.
Auburn fans got a treat on Easter day. JT Thor committed to Auburn over Oklahoma State. Thor was predicted by many to choose the Cowboys but luckily, they were wrong. This is huge for Auburn and their recruiting class. The Tigers bumped up all the way from No. 19 to No. 8 in the national recruit rankings. This is Bruce Pearls first top 10 recruiting class at Auburn and it could get better with the looming decisions of Jalen Green and Greg Brown. JT Thor is the 7th highest ranked recruit in program history and the 3rd best power forward in program history. The 6’8 190 lb recruit comes from Norcross, Georgia where he faced off against Sharife Cooper a few times. This is huge for Auburn. War Eagle!
There’s always arguments between Auburn and Alabama. Who’s better? Who will win the Iron Bowl? Who’s got the best players? Those questions are slung around yearly in the state of Alabama. But one thing few people talk about is who’s got the fastest players? We’re gonna take a look at that argument between two players. Anthony Schwartz vs Jaylen Waddle. They’re both really fast. Let’s take a look at Anthony Schwartz.
Anthony Schwartz
Anthony Schwartz is entering his junior year as a Tiger. Schwartz’s fastest 40-yard dash is a blazing 4.27. That’s litterally insane. Former Alabama receiver Henry Ruggs also ran a 4.27 at thew 2020 NFL Draft Combine. Schwartz has gotten lots of praise from the legendary Deion Sanders multiple times and Schwartz even claims he’s faster than a young PrimeTime. He can really turn on those burners. If he gets so much as two feet a head of you in the open field he’s gone. In the year 2020. Scwartz hopes to add more juke and elusiveness to his game in order to possibly make him a future first round pick. So it looks like Schwartz has set the bar pretty high. Let’s see Jaylen Waddle.
Jaylen Waddle
Jaylen Waddle is an animal in the pass game. His blazing speed makes him a top athlete. His 40-yard dash is slower than Schwartz’s however. Waddle runs a 4.52. But come on, that’s pretty fast for someone who’s last name is Waddle. I think Waddle is overall the better receiver but I’m not convinced he’s the faster one. Waddle is pretty much gaurenteed to be a first round draft pick in 2021. So he’s got a lot going for him. But now, let’s see the results.
Obviously both of these guys are speed demons. But in the end, you’re guy Anthony Schwartz is definitly the fastest receiver. War Eagle.
First and foremost, Happy Easter everyone! In the article below, you’ll see that I posted about a power forward that’s announcing today. JT Thor, a 4-star forward from Norcross, Georgia, is announcing today at 11 am CT. Will he pick the Tigers? Or the Cowboys? We’ll see at 11 am. War Eagle!
JT Thor, a 4-star power forward from Norcross, GA, is announcing his decision Sunday. Thor is likely to pick either Auburn or Oklahoma State. But Oklahoma State leads the crystal ball predictions by a heavy margin. But maybe Auburn can pull a surprise Easter egg and land Thor. We’ll find out Sunday. War Eagle.
