I’ve found my new NFL team, here’s who and why

I needed a new NFL team. The Carolina Panthers let go of Cam Newton, one of my favorite players. Without Cam I see no reason to be a true fan of the Panthers. So I was on the lookout for a new team to route for. I was going to wait and see where Cam would sign to see if I wanted to route for that team.

But I’ve found my team and here’s why I don’t need to wait. But first, let me show you a few teams I considered. I considered the Detroit Lions since my favorite running back (Kerryon Johnson), and my best friend’s favorite running back (De’Andre Swift), are now on the Lions. But that didn’t seem like a good fit. The Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons were considered since they’re local. But, There wasn’t enough Auburn on their rosters. The Baltimore Ravens were also considered since I’ve been to Baltimore several times. But, that didn’t seem right although I do really like the Ravens. But now, I have my new team.

I’ve decided to be a fan of the New England Patriots. I’m going to list all the reasons why.

A bunch of Auburn athletes

The Patriots have five former Tigers on the team. They include quarterback Jarrett Stidham, cornerback Jonathan Jones, wide receiver Will Hastings, linebacker Brandon King, and defensive end Nick Coe. And if they decide to add Cam Newton, it’ll be six.

They are committed to Jarrett Stidham

Former Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham will start for the Patriots in 2020. The Patriots are committed to him. Which is why I don’t think they’ll sign Cam Newton. But, Stidham has a great arm. The Pats really like him.

A solid defense

I love defense. I play it in football and I love it. The grind of dominating you’re blocker and slam the runner or passer to the turf is electrifying. The Patriots have a top 5 NFL defense. Like they say, defenses win championships. In New England, they really do.

Cool jerseys

I love jerseys whether they’re throwback, modern, or classic. Some jerseys are flat out trash. But the Patriots have great jerseys. The mix of classic and modern is perfected with history. Another thing I like is that they’re using their color rush jerseys as their primary jerseys now. It kinda marks the end of the Brady era and the start of the Stidham era.

BREAKING! Caylin Newton commits to Auburn!

Courtesy of 247sports.com

Oh the name Newton. It means royalty in Auburn. Cam Newton was one of the game’s greatest quarterbacks of all time in college. He led Auburn to a perfect National Championship season and won countless awards including the Heisman Trophy.

There’s now a different Newton in Auburn. On Friday evening, Caylin Newton, the former Howard quarterback, out of the blue announced that he’d be playing his next two seasons at Auburn. And just letting you know right now, Caylin is good. Really good.

Now will he play quarterback like he did at Howard? He’s listed as an athlete now meaning he could be anywhere from a quarterback to a receiver.

The 6-feet, 195-pound grad transfer, will be a preferred walk-on with Auburn. At least at first. He’ll have a chance to earn a scholarship.

Like I said earlier, Newton will have two years of eligibility.

This is big news for the Tigers regardless of which position he plays.

Jonathan Kuminga, #1 player in 2021 class, releases his top five options

Jon Kuminga, the #1 player in the basketball 2021 class, who might reclassify to 2020, has narrowed it down to five. And Auburn’s in it. Auburn along with Texas Tech, Duke, Kentucky, and the NBA G-league, have a chance to land him. Texas Tech looks like the favorite. But Auburn is potentially higher than both Duke and Kentucky right now. We’ll continue to monitor his recruitment. War Eagle.

Pat Dye expected to be released from hospital very soon

Looks like all the prayers are being answered for Pat Dye’s recovery. His son, Pat Dye Jr, says he’s expected to be coming home very soon.

Dye Jr, who is a professional sports agent based in Atlanta, said that his father tested positive for the coronavirus “a number of days ago during a routine precautionary test pursuant to his hospitalization for kidney related issues” while at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

“He has essentially been asymptomatic for the virus and is resting comfortably,” Dye, Jr. said. “We fully anticipate his release from the hospital in the next few days once his kidney function is stable.

“On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support for dad and our family upon the reporting of this news.”

Best transfer on the market has Auburn in top 7

Coveted basketball transfer Mac McClung from Georgetown is down to seven schools. Bruce Pearl’s Tigers are with in those seven schools. The 6’2 guard fits very well into Auburn’s most recent style. And he’d be a shooting guard. So Sharife Cooper would be dishing passes to him for threes and layups. It would be a perfect marriage. But Auburn will have to try a little harder to get him. The Tigers could use a little age on their roster. McClung has Auburn, Arkansas, Texas Tech, BYU, Wake Forest, and USC (in no order) in his top 7. War Eagle!

Auburn wide receiver suspended

Auburn redshirt freshman Jashawn Sheffield was suspended indefinitely for two arrests in Georgia.

The cornerback found out the hard way that Auburn is willing to dish out punishment when the program’s players step out of line.

After two arrests in Georgia in just 11 days, Auburn has indefinitely suspended the freshman receiver. This news was first reported by Tom Green of AL.com.

Breaking: NCAA approves football and basketball practices to resume on June 1st

Is the the start of athletics again? The NCAA has allowed teams to start practicing basketball and football on June 1st. This is very important for several SEC football teams since they have new quarterbacks and coaches that need to teach and learn the system. Thankfully, this favors having a football season in 2020. Let’s hope we do. War Eagle.
